The images show the original artwork for the banner made at the Wemyss School of Needlework
located in the Coaltown of Wemyss. Girls working in the school at that time were Annie Morgan
and Meg Simpson. Lady Wemyss was also an accomplished needleworker.
 
The total cost of the banner was £45 of which £15 was materials.

Adorned with the Polish Eagle, the Scottish Thistle, the Archangel Michael and the Arms of the
Kingdom of Fife, this banner was presented to the 1st Independent Polish Paratroopers on the
second anniversary of their formation by Lady Eva Wemyss on behalf of the Ladies of Fife on 21st
September 1943.
